My Weight Loss Story
I will never forget the day that everything changed for me when it came to why it was so important for me to finally get serious about my weight loss. I went to the doctor and had some blood work done. I’ve gotten this done before and everything was fine, so I thought nothing of it because I hadn’t even gone there to get bloodwork done. Then I heard the words pre-diabetes. That changed everything…
In all my years of being overweight I never had any serious health problems related to my weight. As soon as that changed my mindset changed. If I don’t start living a healthy lifestyle now my health is only going to get worse. Now was the time to do something… like for real this time. No more playing games.
Before that doctors visit my history with losing weight was a typical yo-yo cycle of dieting. I’d start one, do good for maybe a week or two, only to slip up and forget it all. Then a few months later, or the beginning of the year, I’d start a new diet determined to stick to it this time. I tried telling all my friends and family, so they would be proud of me. I even tried keeping it to myself, in the hopes of shocking
everyone with my progress. Clearly nothing stuck.
I can’t wait to see the day when I’ve reached where I want to be with my weight and health. As much as I’d like to say I’m driven only by my need to be healthier, but that’s not true. To be honest I’m most excited to do things like go into any store and know I’ll have clothes I can try on. I want to be able to go walking around with friends and not feel like I’m falling behind or out of breath. Most importantly, I want to feel comfortable in my body and feel beautiful.
I can proudly say that since that doctor’s appointment (almost 2 years ago) I have not given up. My weight loss binder is a huge reason for my motivation. I still have a long way to go, and it has by no means been perfect, but I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished so far and look forward to all I will accomplish in the future.
Through this journey I’ve learned a lot about what I did wrong before and have made necessary changes to do this the right way. All of which I will explain in a future post so keep an eye out for that.
Are you currently in your own weight loss journey, or have been through one? What was a turning point for you that changed the direction of your journey?
